The strike coincided with /”Red Cup Day,/” one of the busiest customer traffic days of the year when Starbucks hands out tens of thousands of free reusable cups.
At least 366 U.S. Starbucks stores have voted to unionize since 2021, according to the National Labor Relations Board. But Starbucks and the Workers United union have yet to reach a labor agreement at any of those stores.
/”They absolutely can pay baristas and staff stores better,/” said one worker. /”Baristas shouldn’t be sustaining lifelong injuries, or struggling to keep a roof over our heads, just so Starbucks can keep making record profits./”
