Upon the outbreak of the Mexican-American War, many in America saw this as an opportunity to seize vast amounts of territory, most notably California. And, after the war, America would sign the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, which would give California and New Mexico to America. But, before this, there was actually a push for the US to annex ALL of Mexico. Mexico was extremely unstable, so, as a result, those in favor of annexation saw this as the only way to pacify the region. But, in the end, due to backlash, this wouldn’t end up happening. But, what if that changed? What if America had annexed Mexico? Enjoy!
