How did the Universe and life begin? We shall visit ALMA, the largest radio-telescope in the world, where research is carried out to find out the origins of the Universe through 66 giant antennae placed in the Chilean high plateau. We’ll hear and dance a “cueca” dedicated to the Big Bang, played by a Chilean folklore group, and we shall look for life under extreme conditions in the almost Martian red waters of the Rio Tinto river, in Spain. At the La Silla Observatory, in Chile, we wonder whether it is possible that life on Earth was brought by a comet, and we shall also watch a mapuche indigenous community during the ritual del We Tripantu, that coincides with the Winter Solstice and marks the re-birth of life.
