We were hired to build a new foundation for a garage and breezeway. I had no idea the mess that was under the ground from an old failed foundation. We found footers that we’re not deep enough or big enough and had no rebar. There was no wire mesh or rebar in the concrete floors, the only good part was the demo went fairly easy. The stem walls were not even deep enough for our local frost line requirements. There is no way this thing ever passed an inspection. It must have been built before codes were in place.
