The 13.3 km tunnel of the Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Project, which is a project of national pride, has been broken on Wednesday. The tunnel was ‘breakthrough’ in the presence of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Within four years, ‘Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Multi-Purpose Project’ is being worked on to provide 12-month irrigation facility in 5 districts out of 8 districts of Madhesh province and also generate 31.7 megawatts of electricity.
Electricity will be generated by damming the water of Sunkoshi River and delivering 67,000 liters per second to the banks of Marin River through a 13.3 km long tunnel.
13.3 km tunnel ‘break through’ of Sunkoshi Marine Diversion
26 Baisakh, Kathmandu. The project of National Pride Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Multi-Purpose Project tunnel has been ‘break through’.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has ‘break through’ the tunnel of the Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Multipurpose Project.
He said that this project will make a qualitative contribution to the national economy after its implementation in the program held in Sindhuli on Wednesday. Prime Minister Prachanda expressed his belief that after the completion of the project, agricultural production will increase due to improvements in the irrigation system.

/”The project located in Sindhuli district of Bagmati province will provide year-round irrigation facilities to the fertile land of 5 districts of Madhesh province, qualitative contribution to the national economy and hydropower generation,/” Prime Minister Prachanda said. ‘
Stating that through the successful implementation of this project, the technical skills of the technicians working in the water resources and irrigation sector have been achieved by using the new technology, Prime Minister Prachanda said that it will help to reduce the import imbalance by increasing the agricultural production and productivity from the fertile land by using the water resources as a combination.

Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Multipurpose Project will transfer the water of Sunkoshi River from the border of Sindhuli and Ramechhap districts through a 13.3 km long tunnel to Marine River through Khasali Bagmati River to Bagmati Irrigation Project. The main objective of the project is to provide irrigation facilities throughout the year in Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat and Bara with 45 thousand 600 hectares of land currently being irrigated.
Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion achieves breakthrough
The Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Multipurpose Project tunnel has achieved a breakthrough.
