Okay, story time. Ya ready? When the Royals renovated the outfield seats at Kauffman Stadium in 2009, fans were allowed to retrieve baseballs from the fountains. Hell, I even brought a metal device just for this purpose, and I went nuts with it. Check out my blog entry from June 16, 2009 to see what I’m talking about:

It was so much fun and caused zero harm, and I was even featured on TV at the stadium performing my /”fountain trick,/” but now the guards are strict and don’t allow people to even reach over the railings. In fact they’ll threaten you with a trespassing charge if you touch the water because that’s considered /”entering the fountains./” Yes, really. It makes me sad, but hey, let this serve as a warning if you find yourself at arm’s length from a floating baseball. Don’t get arrested. It’s really not worth it — not during batting practice, at least, but hey, for a game home run? Well, you can decide.
Anyway, the Royals were facing the Baltimore Orioles, and what started as a pitchers’ duel ended as a slugfest. Vinnie Pasquantino hit a home run into his team’s bullpen, Adley Rutschman blasted a grand slam in my direction, and MJ Melendez hit one that . . . I don’t ever want to talk about for the rest of my life. For me personally, this was a really fun day that ended up frustrating the craaaaap outta me. Oh, and Jackson Holliday? He didn’t do anything at the plate, but he did chuck me a warmup ball before BP so that was cool.
