This performance of /”Hazy Shade Of Winter/” comes from the Bangles’ September 2000 show at the House Of Blues in Hollywood, CA. In 1987, The Bangles were approached to record a song for the soundtrack of the film /”Less Than Zero./” When The Bangles released the track as a single in November 1987, /”Hazy Shade of Winter/” became a hit, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It was also a hit around Europe. /”Hazy Shade of Winter/” was not included on any of the band’s studio albums, but was later included on the band’s first official Greatest Hits in 1990, and on many of the band’s subsequent compilations. /”A Hazy Shade of Winter/” is a song originally written by Paul Simon, recorded and released by Simon & Garfunkel in 1966.

Lyrics:
Time, time, time, see what’s become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please
But look around, leaves are brown
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hear the salvation army band
Down by the riverside, it’s bound to be a better ride
Than what you’ve got planned
Carry your cup in your hand
And look around, leaves are brown now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hang on to your hopes, my friend
That’s an easy thing to say, but if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again
Look around, the grass is high
The fields are ripe, it’s the springtime of my life

Ahhh, seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won’t you stop and remember me

But look around, leaves are brown now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Look around, leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground…

1980s girl band, /”the bangles/” covered this simon and Garfunkel song for the soundtrack of the 1987 movie /”Less than zero/”. it is perhaps my second favorite Paul simon cover since elvis presley’s version of /”Bridge over troubled water/”. this version features great lyrcis, heavy guitar chords, and percussions and actually kind of rocks. while most of the vocals is sung in harmony, we get a lovely sample of the sultry soprano voice of lead singer susannah hoffs toward the end of the performance, which leaves us wanting more.
