With blacktail season coming to an end, we head out again in seek of a blacktail buck for my uncle. While he missed on a spike I spotted for him we go out once again to try to fill my antler-less tag. Early in the morning i get a glimpse of a doe in a 2 year old clearing . With the fog being dense and her being quartering toward us we pack up out stuff and go up in elevation to a landing , where i can get a better and safer shot on her. The fog keeps coming in and out giving us little visibility, so we wait and finally after 30 minutes of waiting the fog clears out and we relocate the doe still bedded down. I get here located, get on the gun and fire. That is when I realized I hadn’t chambered a round. So I out a round in and slowly squeeze the trigger then *bam* and impact she runs off and piles up just 40 yds where I shot her from!!!We pack her out and tag her and while eating 8 spot a buck near where we had previously double up not 4 weeks before. He’s a nice fork n horn cruising searching for a hot doe.
