Sometimes the piles of fieldstone’s you see out in the woods hide old relics and you should check them. Use a metal detector to check all around the edges and even on top of the rock pile. A lot of work went into gathering and stacking all these rocks so people lost stuff when they went back and forth. to to mention that hundreds of years ago they threw away the stuff they did not want into these piles. I was at one today with my Fisher F19 and found a lot of old relics from the 1800s. lantern parts, buttons, farm tools and other things. You have to figure they started clearing this land back in the colonial days and worked it all the way up into the late 1800s so that is a lot of history in-between. metal detecting old places like this you have to check everywhere.
