The Mob Reporter here with news of major international mob figures whose time on the run ended abruptly this month, and the stories of who they really are, and why they were among the world’s most wanted.
Chapters:
00:00 Introduction
01:15 Arrest of Camorra Godmother Maria Licciardi
04:42 Arrest of mobster art lover Raffaele Imperiale
08:27 Arrest of ‘Ndrangheta boss Domenico Paviglianiti
Imperiale is notorious for hoarding priceless paintings by Vincent Van Gogh that were stolen in a famous Amsterdam art heist, but when he was arrested in Dubai had garish art of cartel boss Pablo Escobar on his wall.
Paviglianiti was a veteran clan boss who rode around in his Calabrian hometown in an armoured car but when tracked down in Madrid was caught strolling the street on his own, loaded down by fake ID, six phones and 6,000 in cash.
Licciardi is a rare woman to head a significant Mafia clan — a , a Mafia Mamma — and she controlled one of the most fearsome Camorra organizations in modern times. She was arrested in Rome, at the airport in Italy’s capital, as she was trying to fly out to visit her daughter in Malaga, Spain.
Raffaele Mauriello is described as Imperiale’s right-hand man. Also wanted in Italy, he was arrested along with his boss in Dubai.
All four of these fugitives were on Italy’s most wanted list. That list just got significantly shorter. A little less interesting.
