Lem Tustine, a young man sent to Chicago by his father to sell the family farm’s wheat crop, finds himself ensnared in a whirlwind of love and betrayal. Amidst the bustling city streets, he crosses paths with Kate, a weary waitress yearning for the tranquility of the countryside. As the price of wheat plummets and pressure mounts, Lem hastily sells the crop, oblivious to the repercussions. Ignited by love yet bound by familial duty, Lem and Kate embark on a tumultuous journey back to the rural homestead, only to confront a tempest of hostility from Lem’s father. Fueled by misconceptions and simmering resentment, their once-promising union teeters on the brink of collapse. Amidst escalating tensions and a sabotage attempt, Lem’s awakening to his own passivity sparks a desperate bid to salvage love from the wreckage of misunderstanding.
