Chita Rivera also had leading roles in ‘Chicago,’ ‘Kiss of the Spiderwoman,’ ‘Bye Bye Birdie,’ and ‘Nine.’ She was the first Latina woman to receive a Kennedy Center Honor and was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009 by then-President Barack Obama.
