Dr. Dyson Ido, finds the female cyborg’s core in a junkyard and transforms her into a new body, naming her Alita. She does not remember her past. Alita befriends Hugo and discovers her natural fighting skills.
She faces threats from Iron City’s corrupt forces led by Vector and Chiren.
Amid the confusion, Alita’s relationship with Hugo deepens as they dream of reaching zalem together. Alita is severely injured in a fight with Grewishka. Ido manages to connect Alita to a cyborg body she found earlier. Then she is register as a Hunter Warrior, and they participate in the MOTORBALL competition led by Vector to go to the zalem. They realize that the enemy is Nova.
Hugo is saved by Alita, Chiren and Ido when he is convicted and about to die, but Hugo has to die while fleeing to Salem. Alita eventually finds Vector and calls Nova over him, and later defeats Grewishka in a fierce battle. The film ends with her showing her strength and determination to fight for the future of Iron City.
