Flash flooding, hail and strong winds hit much of New South Wales on Christmas Eve, December 24, and warnings are ahead of more storms over the Christmas period.

One of Australia’s busiest airports so far saw nearly two dozen flights canceled on Christmas Day following heavy rain and flash flooding the day before.

Sydney Airport was affected after its runway was submerged in floodwater. Even though operations have returned to normal, some passengers are still facing cancellations on Christmas Day.
